I don't know Hem Bunting personally, but I can try to understand where he's coming from. 1. I would be proud of myself too if I could represent my country. As a matter of fact, Hem should be very proud of himself for representing an ethnic group of more than 500 million people (ASEAN). He is among the top 3% of long distance runners in the region.
2. I don't hold Hem to a standard of let say Siv Sichan's, since Hem probably has not finished college. 3. I view his claim "Nobody else can do it - only me." as a cry for help. For an exceptional athlete like him, the Cambodian government should try harder to help and to get more Khmer people involved. Just look at what the King of Thailand is doing: http://bangkokpost.com/300708_Sports/30Jul2008_sport24.php BTW, I hope to meet Hem in Beijing at the village...

hmmmm...I think this may be one of those lost in translation moments...My first reaction to Mr. Hem’s statement of "Nobody else can do it - only me." was that Mr. Hem might not be well versed in the English language. The news reporters quoted his comments word for word. I did not think he was trying to put himself on the pedestal (ang’koy ler chong’eh lerk klourn aeng). He did say that "This is a wonderful thing that I can do for my country,"...not for himself.

based on your comments over the years, the only person who should be held in contempt is you. you seem to be a fairly educated fellow yet you speak like neak srae jole srokm in your arm chair. are you really less arrogant? are you realler any smarter? i dont think so. all you do is judge. you are the talk of the town. nothing no gossip gets passed you eh? when are you going to realize your hateful comments does little but show your fake and flawed character traits to the watchful observers?take some responsibility and change some of your school girl tactics. i suspect you are still as bitter as ever. that is my opinion of you, not very high i admit. but i dont care if you dont like it. go on and hide in your shell of security and play the high road while having your ego stroked by mediocraty. more exposure for you.

Hun Sen is much more intelligent than GW. It does not make Hun Sen any less arrogant or contemptible. A few years ago, in kc, to the chagrin of at least one kcer in Washington State, I made similar comments about the Cambodian who won the Silver or bronze Medal in some science Olympiads in Jakarta and who said how proud he was of himself. Egotism is egotism. The "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king" Ah kwak syndrome and the "Kaat Knong Kaorm" syndrome are real and do plague Cambodian society and Cambodian communities abroad. Easy "rah rah" accolades bestowed upon people like Mr. Bunting help to ingrain these syndromes in the Cambodian psyche and nurture a culture of mediocrity and easy arrogance.

hey...this thread is about sport, long distance running, the Olympics. let's keep it to the topic.... Bunting's performance isn't so mediocre. his running time is 2.26. the standard qualify time is 2.20. not bad, right. perhaps he has gotten faster since the report.

i call my comment the truth. sometimes the truth hurts. consider it to be a wake up call. a prescription. its good for you in the long run. in all honestly khemara says things like this. its veiled vulgar "sam ngam" rhetoric. he seems to get away with it because a lot of you cant seem to read in between the lines. lets not appease him anymore. heard of shock and awe? the guy always got something negative to say and its how he says it. the sideway comments. the runner doesnt deserve this "merl ngeay" talk from this nobody on kw. as for me, im just somebody on kw calling out a nobody. understand gnome? cant hate on that if you're real.

Talking about school girl tactics huh? You are quick to take this opportunity to express your utter contempt towards K15 based not on what he said pretaining to the thread topic but based on your personal dislike towards him. Maybe that's why the bitterness you accuse K15 of is mostly found in your resentful responce. Seriously though, before you say shit to other people you really need to do some self reflecting. If anyone comes off as an arrogant know-it-all, it's you. I mean you can't even think for yourself without making some sort of religious reference to the Bible or God. You simply dimiss the reason and logic others have pointed out to you and go on preaching about the "absolute truth". It's mostly a load of bull and nobody buys it. So do I note a bit of jealousy and envy here? Maybe your ego is not being stroked enough b/c from the looks of what you've written, people are not all that impress by your vocabulary bank.

I have nothing against Christ. I actually like the guy but I don't like people who believe that they are absolutely right and therefore everyone else is wrong because they don't share the same views or religious beliefs. I am not the arrogant prick with the religious fundamentalist mind set here. And I am not afraid to remind you of that either TLP. You view any type of criticism as "faulty and illogical interpretation". You believe that ONLY YOU have grasped the concepts and ONLY YOU have seen and understood the truth and ONLY YOU know what is right and therefore we are all wrong. But the use of reason and logic you use is a twisted warped interpretation of what you see as fit. You've shaped it into a cookie cutter design to mold what will support your ideas and beliefs. Therefore dismissing any opposing views as "faulty and illogical interpretation" Funny...I think that applies more to you. So really your personal dislike towards K15 is more about the members on here agreeing with what he has to say (because it makes sense) than the B.S you are trying to feed to the masses. Yeah because we just don't buy it!!! So maybe that's why you are filled with comtempt and bitterness towards him if not jealousy. Ahhh that certainly explains alot of past comments... He doesn't appear to be arrogant in that interview and his body language reciprocated those humbleness in a marathon runner. I think K15's rip of the line "Nobody else can do it - only me" was misinterpreted for the reasons you mentioned.

That's a very good point. The theme of the video was about BH struggles and doesn't portray BH in the traditional lime-light of a privlidge athlete. It ended with a sadness of uncertainty for Cambodia's and its athletes.

i dont call myself mr. cambodia or mr. kw so i could care less about what the people have to say. i will listen, i will respnd, explain my position and that is the end of it. you have a thing against Christ. since Christ is the Truth, you are far from it. you may think you are right but you are not. im not afraid to say it and remind you. its easy for me to accuse you of the same school girl tactic and go back n forth but im not going to do so. i understand most of the people or the masses are far from the absolute truth. if you are a truthful person, you would admit to it which is what i am doing now. this is my position in life and i am going to submit to it in full. you are right, i dislike khemara i admit it. the reason why i dont like him is because of the things he says. what wrong with that? that is my opinion like how he has his own. case in point this thread. when you make it to the olympics, you are a somebody. i am not going to do it. its above my realm. same goes for you and all of the people on here. but out of respect i am no going to knock his achievement based on one sentence. instead i support such a man who probably went through a lot to get to where he is today. from khemara, there is only contempt and judgment of his character based on a faulty and illogical interpretation of what he simply stated. its really not that complicated. its pretty obvious because raksa got it and sinap concurred. trust me there is no jealosy here. there is only love. the ability to point things out in hope that he's able to change his ways. im glad you think i have a big vocabulary bank. in honesty, i dont think i do. i use simple words to paint a beautiful picture. if people are unable to see it, thats fine. theres always the next person. no thank you letter is really needed. im not doing it for myself. i am doing it for the Truth.

Maybe your ego is not being stroked enough b/c from the looks of what you've written, people are not all that impress by your vocabulary bank.

based on your comments over the years, the only person who should be held in contempt is you. you seem to be a fairly educated fellow yet you speak like neak srae jole srokm in your arm chair. are you really less arrogant? are you realler any smarter? i dont think so. all you do is judge. you are the talk of the town. nothing no gossip gets passed you eh? when are you going to realize your hateful comments does little but show your fake and flawed character traits to the watchful observers?take some responsibility and change some of your school girl tactics. i suspect you are still as bitter as ever. that is my opinion of you, not very high i admit. but i dont care if you dont like it. go on and hide in your shell of security and play the high road while having your ego stroked by mediocraty. more exposure for you.

Hello Neak Neang Pukeko, Thank you for your comments. You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. Ok. So Mr. Bunting's time is faster than Lance Armstrong's. So what?
