Are you hooked on facebook and how many friends do you have on facebook?

For me, yes, I admit that I am very hooked and addicted to that site. Haha. My friends and I, we all stalk each other everyday on facebook, despite the fact that we see each other at school already. It's all Mark Zuckerberg's fault for inventing that thing. Everyone is super nosey and curious about everyone else's life (myself included). I guess it's only human nature. LOL. Anyway, I only add people that I know in real life and that I go/went to school with. Currently, I have 310 friends. And of the 310, 38% are from my undergrad school (people I went college with, from my college network), 42% are from my graduate school (people that I currently go to grad school with or who went to grad school with me, all from my grad school network), the other 13% are friends of mine from grade school on up who attend different schools from me (but, whom I've all known since my childhood + high school days), and lastly, about 7% are my students that I T.A. That's about it. I'm in three networks (two of them are my school networks) on facebook : UCSD, Harvard, and Boston, MA.

One thing I hate about facebook is that poke thing. I always get like about 8-10 pokes a day from my friends and it's like, okay, am I suppose to poke them back each time or what? I don't always have time to send them a poke back. Or, is it considered rude if you don't poke your friends, if they send you a poke? Haha. I try to send them a poke back when I can because I figured it's a facebook etiquette, you know? Kinda like if they write on your wallie, it's only polite to write them back on their wallie, right? But sometimes, I admit that I get freakin' lazy. It gets annoying to get pokes everyday. I wish I can take that poke feature off from my facebook page. Huy.

No, unfortunately, I cannot add you. Only if I know you and have met you in real life. I'm very strict with my facebook. The only people I will add are people that I currently go to graduate school with, or went to college with, and/or people (friends + acquaintances) that I know in real life. My whole life is on facebook. Shoot. Facebook contains very private and personal information about me (including about 500 pictures of me with my family, my good friends and special people in my life) that I only share with real life friends and/or people that I go to school with.

Khmerleur, you're not even on my friend's list on KW, silly! What makes you think that I will add you on facebook?  JK. You were on my KW friend's list, but then I deleted you because I was mad at you for making a rude and negative comment towards me. Later on, I forgave you because I realize that you're only human too and you prob didn't mean it. Lastly, I don't like holding grudges against people, anyway. Especially for silly, minor things. Life is too short for that. Not unless they did something really evil to me, now that's a different story.

I have a facebook but never got around to learning how to use it. I barely use myspace. I pretty much dedicate most of my online social time on here. My circle of friends are a phone call or im away. I'm not much of a social butterfly.

You know what majesticgyrl, I was just wondering about that the other day.  I went to view your profile to ask you how your summer of teaching was coming along, but only to realize that I could no longer access your page, hence, I could not send you a message or post on your wall.  Anyhow, thanks for clearing up, and how was your summer of teaching by the way?

P.S. was the comment that I made regarding your one thread where you asked about the ideal teachers?  I just have a feeling it is.  I apologize if I offend, but sometimes I like to joke around, sometimes I'm sarcastic online and people don't realize it.  Whatever it is, I'm glad you're over it now.

As well, I have no problems with you not wanting to add me to facebook.  I was kidding around there too.  I read the thread and noted the part where you said you only add classmates and family members.  Didn't mean to push your buttons any further

It's okay. You can be my friend again on KW. WE'RE COOL NOW! I'll add you back and we can write on each other's guestbook.  How does that sound? No worries. We're all human beings. We're not perfect. Neither you nor I. So I'm not going to hold anything against you. Plus, it's not like you did anything remotely mean or evil to me. I tried to understand why you said what you said on that thread that day too. I was thinking that perhaps, maybe you had a bad day or something.

To me, you just don't seem like a mean or rude person. I could be wrong though, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. You were really nice to me when I first signed up for KW and you always commented on my blogs, especially when I wrote about my baby niece, which I thought was very nice of you. Maybe, I was a little harsh with my words too? I apologize if my words came off as mean. I didn't mean it. Plus, I don't like giving silent treatments to people and I rather make friends than foes. Although, sometimes I have to put on a tough and mean exterior to scare people away you know, but deep down, I'm actually a very nice person, if you get to know me. heh.

I find Facebook very user friendly and actually, I like it a lot better than Myspace.

I'm not that active on Myspace, but I still have an account there. I'm more active on Facebook because I'm a nerd and all my nerdy friends are on Facebook. Myspace, I only use to keep in touch with childhood friends, high school friends or friends who don't otherwise have a Facebook account, but that's about it. To date, I have only 224 friends on Myspace and about 1/3 are overlapped from Facebook. hehe.

The funny thing is I have this silly, weird habit (maybe others of you out there do the same thing? haha) of always changing my profile pic for all three (if I do it for one, I have to do it for all three). The three that I'm referring to are KW, Facebook and Myspace. So okay, like if I put a new profile/avatar pic of me on KW, then I'll do the exact same thing on Facebook and Myspace. Hahaha. That's just so that I can have the same profile pic showing up on all three sites. LOL. Who else is guilty of this? Admit it. I know you do it too!

Haha. That's cool. Thanks for sharing.  What I find so cool about facebook is that if you find one friend, you will pretty much find all if not most of your friends (if you share many mutual friends with that one friend). LOL! What I love about facebook is that it connected me with a long lost high school friend whom I haven't seen in nearly 7-8 years. She came from Cambodia (at the age of 15) to live and study here in America and I was her English tutor back in high school. She's about one year older than me. Anyway, we totally lost touch after she went off to college, but then thanks to facebook, we found each other and are now able to stay in touch again. Now, she's a pharmacist and married to a wonderful man. Gosh, I'm so so proud of her and happy for her!

This is the first time I heard of Facebook so that's something news to me. However, I don't have any plan of using it since I can barely have enough time with some other one I used now. But thank for sharing and the info, Vanna!

One interesting thought about Facebook with the feature of "poke" a buddy. I surely wouldn't want to poke anyone since it might hurt, but instead of poking, can I tickle Vanna instead. Lol...  J/K!

Not yet a member of Facebook nor myspace.   Wow to be so active among several sites and visiting all those many friends, you must have great time management skills.  Good for you though!
