Finally!!  I have been looking around for a whole year trying to find someone to transcribe my daughter's name in Khmer!!  I am so glad i found this website. 

My wife is Cambodian, and I am American.  We had a baby a year ago, and I want to get a tattoo of her name in Khmer on my heart. 

Her name is Amelia. (I know this isn't a Khmai name, but can it still be transcribed into Khmer?)

I would also like to see how the word "daughter" looks in Khmer script.

Different fonts would be nice too, as i know there is a formal, royal, and informal types.

Second line= Daughter (Royal)

Third line= Daughter (Commoner)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I am not aware of anyone called Parn' (as spelled by Hemsoo in Khmer), but I've heard of people name Pan (without Bon tok).

I could be wrong, I think it's just the sounding of Latin, and English which is slightly different, even my name also sounds different when English speaking background call it.

Anyway, if you have already tattoo, you can't change, but if you haven't I think a second thought doesn't hurt.

Amelia, should be spelled with Or-arh, Mor dak srak ei, without srak ok, Lor dak srak ah (lia, the one you already used).

Please let me know if mind doesn't sound right....

I have one question for you.  I have the Khmer unicode font installed.  What letters on a typical QWERTY keyboard would i need to press to spell out my daughter's name (Amelia) in Khmer?

 Shift G + A + M +  Shift ‘  + Shift I + L  +Shift I + Y + Shift ‘  + A

‘ =Apostrophe key

Key:

A= press the A key; Shift A=Press and hold the Shift Key then press the A key

Hi I really think it's a good idea, back in the old day when I was quite involved in this forum I used to dream of getting donations from translations. Anyway, my dream didn't go far coz I was not very persistent. Now that someone raised the idea I think Hemsoo should set it up. I know my khmer is rusty, but if I am any of assistant I will try my best.

Hemsoo, i have a question for you.  I am learning how to read Khmer, and I noticed that there is a sat-OH vowel sound below the MOR consanant in my Daughter's name. (Amelia).  Is that supposed to be there, and if so, can you explain how it is transalated?

Depends on one preference that Srak OH can be omitted and the word (in this case “Amelia”) stills sound the same, for me I preferred to use it when writing a person name.

Obviously, I am a money oriented person, lolz. But I do think abit beyond my greed actually.

អាមីលា

as pronounced in English A - Me - Lia
