1Tell us three things about yourself? – Anonymous.
I’m 5’5’’, I have an unhealthy fondness for hot Cheetos, and I hog the bed when I’m sleeping.
2What is your greatest accomplishment so far? -- malaika, United States.
Being bad ass. Probably school, though, even though it makes me feel very narrow minded to have to say that. I equate great accomplishments with things like scaling Mother Nature or saving a life or two. Unfortunately, I haven’t done either of those things, so it would have to be going to school in an attempt to get one of those PhDs I’ve heard so much about.
3What else do you hope to accomplish? -- malaika, United States.
Being kick ass. My biggest accomplishment will be becoming an adult-which I haven’t done yet. I plan to become one of those reliable, ‘go-to’ people that everyone counts on. As of yet, I’m still in useless student mode.
4Do you ever wonder if you're missing anything by not dating a Khmer man? -- Anonymous
Not particularly. I only date one guy at a time, so that would be like wondering what I was missing out by not dating the millions of other men who live on Earth. Also, can we replace ‘Khmer men’ with ‘men of other races’? What’s so special about Khmer men that separates them from black or Hispanic men? I have dated someone Hispanic before, but I guess nobody cares about that.
5Are you curious about dating a Khmer man? -- Anonymous
Meh. I haven’t had that much dating experience, so I guess I’m still curious about a lot of things.
6If you have children, what are some things you would do differently from your parents? -- malaika, United States.
I don’t want kids. But I plan to spoil my nephews and nieces. Currently, I buy clothes for Thom and make fun of him for being a drool machine. Part of the reason I don’t want kids (a tiny part of the reason) is that I would probably replicate the things my parents did when raising me. Not everything they did was wrong, but I disagree with a lot of their methods. I fear I would fall back on those methods naturally, which is scary.
7What are some things you would do the same as your parents? -- malaika, United States.
Instill an appreciation for reading. We went to the library constantly when I was younger, and I loved it. I think being literate is something that is underappreciated. So I’m going to read to Thom a ton, also encourage some sort of sport or musical talent.
8What do you see in white guys that aren't in Khmer guys? -- Soch, Afghanistan.
Height.
9What were the three happiest moments in your life so far? -- Sui_Generis, Shaviyani Atoll, Maldives.
Getting into grad school, not dying after a ridiculous car accident, and seeing Tenacious D live.
10Other than flying the blue skies, what are some of your other favorite hobbies? -- Sui_Generis, Shaviyani Atoll, Maldives.
Flying isn’t my hobby; it’s a means of transportation. If I had the money, I probably would travel more though. I love to dance-modern, jazz, or that clubby crap. I’m really into bowling right now. My highest score is 136 which isn’t that great, but I’ll take it. I like to play pool, which I’m also shitty at. I love going to concerts, too.
11I see you have listed Claremont for your location. I take it you are very liberal? -- troiscouleurs, North Korea.
I’m fairly liberal, but that’s not a function of Claremont. It’s a top retirement community so I’m surrounded by old, rich people. I go to Claremont for school, and it’s quaint to the point of having a trolley service. It’s nice, but I would never settle down here, or promote it enthusiastically. Also, to answer this question with a question: What else do you know about Claremont?
12Who would you date from the Breakfast Club? Emilio Estevez’s character or the guy who is the loser in the group? -- troiscouleurs, North Korea.
That is my favorite John Hughes movie. Although Pretty in Pink is a close second. Definitely John Bender, he’s way more interesting than the wrestler. On a side note, I don’t think anyone bought the idea that Emilio Estevez was playing a wrestler. Also, I like long hair.
13What are some ills in the Khmer-American community that needs to be addressed? -- troiscouleurs, North Korea.
All the problems that I can think of aren’t exactly secret. Lack of education and corruption among higher ups?
14Ayn Rand--Hot or Not? -- troiscouleurs, North Korea.
Hot, but I’ve only read The Fountainhead. I started Atlas Shrugged, but I think I only got a teeny bit through it.
15What do you want to be when you grow up? -- nitha, Cambodia.
Since I’m past the age of naming occupations as an answer to that question, I’ll say responsible. I’d love to be responsible when I grow up.
16Do you have any incriminating pictures of Thom for future usage? -- nitha, Cambodia.
Sure do. That kid didn’t get photogenic until about 2 weeks ago, but I’m sure his parents will have tons of material to embarrass him with later on.
17How does it feel to be part of such a talented family? -- kwii, Seattle, United States.
I’d feel better about it if someone-anyone was able to make any money off of their so called talents.
18What is your talent? -- kwii, Seattle, United States.
Refer to the first sentence in question 2.
19What else do you do to waste time besides spending time on KW? -- kwii, Seattle, United States.
I waste time by sleeping half the day away. It’s my specialty.
20Who's your favorite sister? -- Soch, Afghanistan.
Mother Theresa.
21What's it like having a real live Cool Kid for a sister? -- vasenuh, Long Beach, United States.
Real and live, huh? Gee, that’s about the coolest thing I could think of!
22If I built a super-intelligent robot, at what point would it be considered "alive?" is there such a point? – GrotesqueBlob, Saint Paul, United States.
The last time I discussed this question, the topic of zombies came up. They’re alive in the sense that they’re up and walking, but as to being sentient, are zombies really alive? I think artificial intelligence will be realized, once a computer is able to make illogical jumps in problem solving (which can be programmed already, actually), and once the computer is able to differentiate ‘itself’ from other thinking beings.
-THANKS KHEMARA!-
