Has anyone read this book or seen the movie? I just ordered as part of my summer reading based on the movie synopsis but not sure how close to the book the movie is or if the writing is any good. I didn't want to see the movie because of it suppose to be very graphic (passion of the christ-esque) I don't really have the stomach for realistic execution. The book/movie is a tale of horrific injustice set in a small Iranian town and based on a french-Iranian journalist's account.

No, I no nothing of this particular story, but does human nastiness not seem to be a reccuring theme in all of our societies?

When asked if I saw the glass half-full or half-empty I answered: Who cares? Either way it means someone started something and didn't finish it. Anonymous

I heard about this story/movie on NPR.  The director was on the show talking about why he made the movie.  It was sad to hear about her life and her sister want the world to know of what is going on in Iran.

I just read the description on Amazon.  I wouldn't want to see the movie either.  Not into gory stuff... a sad and horrible injustice in the world.  along with Sati, a practice in India where widows are burn with their dead's husband.
