Are ur posts freestyled or edited? |
|
I was curious if people typed their posts in Microsoft Word and use spell check, dictionary, thesaurus, proofread, edit, and write numerous drafts before posting their responses. Many of the posts are long and well written. They resemble essays written for college classes. I’m quite impressed with many of them. My posts are freestyle and whatever comes to mind without editing. They are filled with punctuation mistakes, run-on sentences, and every grammatical error one can imagined. Sometimes the hood in me comes out and a little bit of ebonics is thrown in there. LOL. Be honest. Do you type your responses and edit them before posting them? Or do truly talk like that and are super smart? If you are, damn…. I want those skills.

I wouldn't call you a terrible writer. It is apparent from many of your posts that you are a great writer.

freestlye. it's just threads, who cares if you make typos? Should we care? Even if your posts aren't coherent and are like those from Khleang, I welcome those posts too. So!!!

you make some interesting typos and spelling errors.
for me, write it on here but will re-edit if the mistake is big but will ignore it if i feels it's minor.

Your welcome. I know how you feel about the grading down for grammar errors. Thats my weakness too. Spelling isn't as bad cuz there is spell check. Thank goodness for that. I would have never thought to pay grad students for help. I so would have done it a long time ago. I have a little less than 4 mths till graduation so it's useless now but I will keep that in my head for grad school.

WOW! Thank you. That's the first compliment I got about my writing. I'm flattered, but seriously. In my freshman year as a poli sci student, professors are ruthless at grading paper. They are often stricter than my English professors because they can't grade you on your views as long as you logically back them up. So grammar and typos are all that they looking at. I used to get a letter to a letter and a half grade off just for grammar and spelling error alone. That's when I started paying English grad students to help me.

I agree with but there are some posts that is obviously proofread dozens of time. Sometimes it seems like a competition who can write the best essays. Its cool tho' if they wanna do that cuz its interesting to read.

In serious subjects, I'll actually do my research before I make a comment because if I'm stating a fact or some proposition, then it's only logical that someone will want me to backup my statements later in the discussion. I try to give the audience the benefit of the doubt by keeping things short and sweet before I'll explain things in detail. I know I don't want to read long winded replies that have details I already have knowledge of. I also try to spell correctly and keep my grammar in check. I feel that if you're going to say something, try to spend the time to say it correctly and make it easier on the audience. I usually ignore writings that have obvious spelling and grammatical errors (like they don't bother trying). I'm not going to waste time reading something when its author did not really spend time writing.
But when I'm not serious or in nonserious subjects, I just type whatever.

You are far too kind, Niroth. Some Kwiters who shall remain nameless are much better writers, IMO.For example, they never seem to go off on tangents. And readers don't have to read between the lines.

Freestyled for me. Although I admit that I do edit my grammatical errors, but that's about it.

I do everything and anything to make me look smart but at the end I still come across as an AIRHEAD which I do and will admit I pushes the bimbo envelope a little more than I wanted. I mean, what can anyone expect when ones aren't books smart and hated school throughout their life? . P.s I am here to have fun and not to impress anyone or to debate any disagreement so using big words is somewhat pointless but once in a while I'll pull my weber dictionary and look up any unknown big sexual word..

I don't think KW views you as an airhead. Be kind to yourself. Oh Vikings are probably getting a new QB.

me, too. i want those skills. to be able to talk and write as well in a swift manner---that is something. It is depedent on subject matter for me. I put more weight on writing than talking, though, because written words always have a tendency to stay there longer. When I wanted to say something, I'd better make sure that I could back up what I have to say by meaning it. Otherwise, I am haunted. I want to say freestyle, but most of the time it is edited due to the above reason. It is not out of competition or anything, but a need more to express my thought more fully and coherently. There are many members in here, I totally agree, whose writing stlyes are very refreshing to witness. For me, it is both the content and the style behind it. I admire the pattern of thoughts our members as a whole possess, whether short or long or cryptic or clear, or however. I wouldn't mind reading long posts, but I do appreciate paragraphs, though, for it is easier on the eyes. I have the mentality that if effort is put into it, then there is always something to be gained---good or bad would be up to how I analyze things.
