Unlike previous items on the Parade that are available only to people with Internet access, this news item was included in the prime time (7:30 p.m.) broadcast that is heard by many, many Cambodians in Cambodia and around the world. I must admit that Ex-Lon Nol soldier Sam Sam-Ang went too far. The PR image of the protestors would have benefited from a calm, cool exposition of the objections. I am sure he was not the only protestor who was interviewed. Not surprisingly, rfa went for sensationalism.
However, Var Kim Hong did start the name-calling when he was interviewed at least 24 hours BEFORE the demonstration took place in front of Preah Vihear (?) restaurant. http://www.rfa.org/service/audio_popup.html?file=http://www.rfa.org/khmer/audio/2008/04/08/h0407bs.mp3

A guy from the Ministry of Culture. Apparently, a former member of the National Assembly who has been invited by cam-cc, in the past.

Rfa also broadcast the interview with Soth Palin {?} who only used one rude word.
I learned one rude word today because someone had to explain to me the meaning of " Thleum Doh mamih" = very selfish people who only think of their own interests. The Rfa interviewer’s comments at the end about the division in the LB community deepening and showing no sign of resolution would have really pleased LB’s First Couple of Richer and Sithear San who would have wanted to propagate the front that the Parade was a huge success and that everything was wonderful and, by implication, that everybody was behind them.
No wonder somebody inside that restaurant called the cops.
Phay Siphan called the protestors “drunk on democracy”.

Mirage,
The first guy (Soth Palin) said that, as a LB resident, he was not happy about the idea of welcoming representatives of a government that violates the human rights of fellow citizens, indulges in land grabbing. The second guy, Som sam-Ang, said that he opposes the visit of Var Him Kong, Pol Pot no. 2, lackey of the Vietnamese, killer of the Khmer people, like the KR, the Vietcong and the North Vietnamese, he should stay in Cambodia.

In this interview conducted on Monday April 7, 2008, besides calling the “activists”/protestors ) ill-bred (which is totally inappropriate, in the context of the interviewer’s question that asked var Him Hong’s reaction to the fact that some people opposed a visit from Sok An, the number 2 of a regime that did not serve well the interests of the Cambodian people), Var Kim Hong said that no one should pay attention to the opinions of a few/ a group of monkeys ( Matek Mouy Dombor Sva).

It is a big SHAME to all KHMER INTELLECTS EDUCATED in United states, especially in LONG BEACH for parading those people. I think it is a good idea Malaika, to gather documentations on them...and why not gives flyers to everyone (at El dorado park) for the new year event?
Speechless....Why would Khmer support an organization that doesnt even show transparency and democracy. Have they been elected by the Khmer people of Long Beach? Or appointed by themselves. Can you not get the Enterprise number of their cooporation (or organization) name through the public Enterprise listed in United States. We have a system like that here in Canada and by just some researches I found out interesting facts about some men claiming themselves leaders of the community....when in fact their organization are listed under the company cooporation laws.

It a shame to hear that the CPP members are enjoying the parade in the US soil. But then again, they called themselves khmer. In the eyes of the US government, I guess they are OK with any CPP to come to the US. We can cry all we want about CPP are here and there, but as long the US allow the Visa for them to enter the US...There is no stopping them. They have the money and a few slaves in the US that is ready to embrace them.

The US government recognizes the regime in Phnom Penh. Unless it has evidence or strong suspicions that some officials are involved in human trafficking, or identified in the Global Witness report
http://www.alwatan.com.kw/Default.aspx?MgDid=591783&pageId=324
it has no reason to deny entry visas to Cambodian government officials.
Phay Siphan did not need a visa. He is a US citizen.
The question is: in an election year, why did cam-cc initially invite Sok An who has been replaced by four CPP officials?
If a representative each from CPP, Funcinpec, SRP, HRP and NRP had applied for a visa to attend the Khmer New Year Parade, he/she would have been granted a visa, too, unless he/she was one of the people identified in the first paragraph.

That’s exactly what one of the CPP guys said. The Parade is the bridge between PPand LB.

Hey guys, what is the exact translation of “Ak silthoar”?
Does that mean “very rude, ill-bred” or in Khmer "Jhleuy, ot pooch, Jong Srok"? That’s what Svar Kim Hong called the “activists” who, according to him, want to protest during Cambodian New Year. If you are prepared to invest 5 minutes of your time, you will have the privilege of hearing the voices of all the CPP VIPs, The First Couple of LB, viz. Richer San and Sithear San who are both gloating about how successful the Parade was. Please note the last comment from the rfa reporter who said that he has not been able to interview any of the “activists” yet.

I'm not surprise that Sam Borin doesn't have time to interview the otherside . I hope Hun Sen will give him a job after his stint with RFA is over for his unfair and unbalance reportings.
( hello Sam Borin's daughter, i know you are a member ot p1t).

NOW you tell me. i guess our khmer wasn't good enough to be included.

I guess we cannot escape the CPP huh? That is not important now, what really important is to discuss : How to united all political parties i.e SRP, HRP, NRP, and so forth.

I'm hoping that someone could help me with the names as well just to clarify my suspicion.

is the Khmer expression Kabet Jet Dong Aeng appropriate here? Var Kim Hong definitely said Matek Mouy Dombor Sva when he was talking about the “activists” who were opposing Sok An’s visit but, yes, Var Kim Hong forgot that there were four of them in the delegation, hence Sakrava’s cartoon. Thank you for posting Sakrava’s cartoon.
