REGarding propey. I used to ask my dad when i WAS a kid. I remember he saying camodian give high values to our traditions.  Traditions are usually viewed as beautiful, nice, good. So the word prorpey which refers to prorpeyney has become another term meaning nice, good, beautiful, without having anything to do with tradition. HOpe u understand.

one : sach sor =white skin. Paleasssssse, Cambodian women have many
complexions but not plain white and white has never been a beauty trait
of the Cambodian woman. This is the Chinese influense into Cambodia.

think I agree with you even the music sounds Chinese. But I heard some
lyrics in some Khmer song (I don't know what it is called) that goes
like " ... ruob own sen la-or saj own sen sar leus neary dor-tey ... "
doesn't it prove that khmers prefer lighter skin?  I don't mean "white"
but lighter because like they said before us if you are really dark,
then you are real Khmer.  Not necessarily indicative of either
inferiority or superiority but a classification of some sort. 

Sometime, some Khmer words are hard to understand; this topic is an example.  Thanks for your comment.

Who is she? Anyway, thanks for your response.  I still don't understand the use of the word like propey-ney (as in Pha's post) means tradition.  So, if Somphos means beautiful; then we can say "traditionally beautiful"?.  But propey is not the same as propey-ney, isn't it?
