Things that make you go Hmmm?
Posted On 02/21/2010 18:49:46 by KSaron

It was a nice sunny Saturday afternoon.  I woke up and gave my kids a bath.  After the bath I took them to Burger King for lunch.  After we finished we were heading to my mother's house. At the stop light there is a man standing with a sign that say "unemployed and hungry."  I rolled down the window and asked him if he would like fries?  He looked at me and said "No Thanks."

At work, one of my employee came to my desk and handed me $1.  She said she found it in the hallway.  I said, it's not mine and she said it's not hers either.  She refused to take it and just left the $1 bill on my desk and walk away.

These are the things that make me go hmmmm?

If you handed homeless a dollar he will accept it.  In Cambodia's people will accept your left over without questions

Spend the dollar on super sizing the fries, then that guy might want them!

Yep. "Hmmmm" is definitely the operative expression.

During the Chinese Lunar New Year, I bought so much foods---those individually packaged and such---as they were on sale. I ate until my stomach was about to burst. I didn't want them to spoil before I could finish them. So, I grab a few in my tote bag and walked downtown to catch some hapless souls pan-handling on the sidewalks and in storefronts.

Three people I approached with my offered foods, one of them was a prominant figure whom I had helped before but I was sure he wouldn't recognize me. And, all three rejected my generosity. I felt as if I was selling them food the way I was asked questions and the way I explained what kind of foods they are and my reason for doing so. I did not want to leave them on the trash bin as I could for I was hoping that I can finish them if no one took the offer.

I could not blame them for they have to be cautious. I see many who rummage through trash bins without a care. Yet, the ones I had approached that day was very skeptical. One could get food poisoning and died and then what would happen? So in a way, I was glad that they rejected my generosity as I could be wound up with a potential law suit.

I went to the park nearby after my errands and proceded to have a late-afternoon picnic with them. On a boulder surrounded by rain-sodden grasses, I ate all that I packaged with little care. Dog walkers let loose their dogs to frollick about. One of them, a Terrier I believe, came over to me for food. In spite of the warning in my head to not feed other people's pet due to food poisoning, this Terrier was so cute and so imploring, I pretended to drop a few chunks on the ground. He ate them all up and circled the boulder in front of me for more. It was very sweet as I continue to watch the painted sky of pink and purple gradually turned into gray as twilight set in. A street lamp lit up, basking the surrounding area with warm yellow lights. As chills set in, it was time for me to head home. I still reflect on the incidence, wondering "hmmmm" likewise internally until now.
