Welcome to Khmerwitica. What is Khmer Witica? First, the meaning of the word: "Khmer" is the largest ethnic group and spoken language in Cambodia. "Witica" in Khmer means stage or podium.

So what exactly is Khmerwitica? We're an online community for everyone, particularly for people who are interested in Khmer culture. Here, Khmerwitica.com members rule the roost; we have no moderators except for administrators who have, at most, as much a say as any other member. Our admins strictly cannot meddle with other member's account including editing their posts, deleting, banning members, or simply moving their threads without the member's permission. Here, we let our members make most of the decisions and we believe that a self moderating community makes a more perfect community, and that power should not be left unchecked or under the hands of one person, but rather that power should be a consensus of the majority. In this modern age, we should not impose 19th century mentality of dictatorship and totalitarianism on all citizens, even citizens of the net.

Khmerwitica.com offers much more than just a fair decorum. We are a social hub, an information center. We come from all backgrounds and from all professional fields. We have a diverse core group of members of Cambodians and non Cambodians threaded under one common purpose: the beauty and plight of the Khmer culture. Whether you're a foreigner, a traveler exploring the magnificent Angkor temples for the first time, a humanity student learning the art and history of Cambodia, a Sanskrit linguist studying ancient Khmer writing, a refugee living abroad, or simply a stranger that appreciates the beauty and richness of another culture, Khmerwitica.com is the site for you. It is that common purpose that brings you here to this page, reading this line, right now.

Khmerwitica.com strives to provide as much information as possible on subjects that matter to the community including the Cambodian experiences and current events. We encourage healthy discussions on any topics. We also occasionally feature original work such as poetry, short stories, paintings, essays, editorials, etc. (feel free to submit them to any one of our administrators).

As globalization takes its course and connects us with one another, the world is rediscovering, in the jungle of South East Asia, the people who built the magnificent Angkor temples, one of the ancient wonders of the world. One of the first French explorers of the mid-19th century, Henri Mouhot wrote: "It is grander than anything left to us by Greece or Rome." Khmerwitica.com is dedicated to serve as a vehicle to bring greater understanding of this once great civilization to the rest of the world. However, we are not limited to just material on Cambodia.  Our forums are open for discussions on a wide array of topics such as terrorism, politics, philosophy, and religion. Through knowledge and understanding, we can bring about changes to the world, one mind at a time, at khmerwitica.com.

If this sounds like a place you’d like to explore and a community you would like to be a part of, sign up today and say hello.  Khmerwitica.com welcomes you.
